The Department of History was established in the academic year 2019-20 and it started functioning from the same academic year. It offers B.A. History programme in English Medium and this course is offered under Choice Based Credit System. The course of study has been periodically updated by the Periyar University. The department of History is attached with the Economics department since the department of Economics offers allied papers. Dr.M.Kumaravelu, Head of the Department of Economics takes additional charge as the Head of the department of History.
Inauguration of History Association -2020
History Association was inaugurated by the department. Dr.P.Murugan, Principal, inaugurated the association and delivered his address. Dr.M.Kumaravelu, Head In-charge of the History department presided over the function and faculty members and students of the department participated.
